Reliable GFCI Outlet Diagnostics
GFCI outlets monitor electrical balance between hot and neutral conductors. If as little as 4 to 6 milliamperes of current leaks to ground—such as through water or a human body—the GFCI instantly trips in less than a tenth of a second.
If your GFCI will not reset, or trips repeatedly even when everything is unplugged, the cause is frequently outdoor moisture accumulation, a downstream short circuit, or an internal surge-damaged sensor.
Areas Requiring GFCI by Code:
Kitchen counter surfaces, bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages, crawl spaces, unfinished basements, and all exterior receptacles within weather-rated bubble covers.
